So we are now living in Beijing – gosh, that is something I never thought I would say in my life. It’s now been two weeks since we left Los Angeles and flew twelve hours on an Air China flight to arrive in Beijing. The flight itself was fine, with Benjamin even sleeping in the bassinet that they provide on the flight despite him being over the age limit of six months old. We were put with all the other babies and kids on flight, but I was well impressed with how well behaved all these chinese babies were on the flight!

Many people don’t know that my parents were born and raised in Burma (also known as Myanmar). So while I ate a lot of Chinese food growing up, my mom also made several awesome Burmese dishes. My all-time favourite is called Ohno Kaukswe (Ohno = coconut; Kaukswe = soup). And just this week, Betty and I made it for the first time! You can read the recipe here.
